How to calibrate an ExamWorks Touchpasd

1. Go to the Utils tab. You will see the button for exit to service. Press and

3. This will prompt you to hit Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and then it will say waiting for X server to shut down. You will hit ENTER and then it will prompt you to login.

4. This will bring you to a menu. Option 7 will be Configure System. Press 7 and ENTER. This will tell you to hit the indicators when prompted.

5. Press ENTER and you will be taken to a gui screen where an X should show up. Then a box will show up in the top center of the screen. Hit the very center of the box, it will then move to the right middle, then on to bottom middle, and finally to left middle.

6. Once you complete the calibration it will prompt you to hit OK in the center of the screen. Once you press the OK it will take you back to the original menu. Enter 10 to reboot and then the calibration will be complete.

Increasing the application address space for eFilm

Abstract:

32-bit Windows operating systems have a maximum of 4 Gb of virtual address space. By default, 2Gb is reserved for the operating system and 2 Gb is reserved for applications. However, you may find that this is not sufficient if you are attempting to view extremely large studies using eFilm. This article describes how to change the distribution of address space so that 3 Gb is available for use by applications.

Caution: Reducing the amount of address space available to the operating system may impair the performance of your computer. You have been warned.

System Requirements:

eFilm 2.1.2 or later
Windows XP Professional
3 Gb RAM (minimum)

To increase the available address space for eFilm:

Locate the BOOT.INI file in the root folder of your C:\ drive.
Double-click the file to open it in Notepad.
You should see text that looks like the following. Your file may vary slightly depending on the operating system you are using:

Abstract: Occasionally users will receive a burnt CD with eFilmLite and try to view the DICOM images on their MAC based pc. Much to their surprise they cannot view these images because Mac computers do not have the capability to open Microsoft executable files (.exe). Efilm workstation, including eFilmLite, is not compatible with Mac based operating systems. However, a user can download a tool called "virtualpc" which can make it possible for a user to access PC-only software, files, networks and devices from their Mac pc.

Abstract:
You can change the directory where audit log files are output; however, that directory must be a subfolder beneath <eFilm Installation Directory>\Auditor. The default location is <eFilm Installation Directory>\Auditor\AuditorLog.
To change the audit log output directory:
Via Windows Explorer, browse to the following location: <eFilm Installation Directory>\Auditor (example: C:\Program Files\Merge eMed\eFilm\Auditor).
Create a new subfolder in this location.
In the Auditor folder, open the efAuditorService.exe.config file using Notepad.
Locate the following line:

Change the value to the new subfolder created in step #2 above.
Restart the eFilm Audit Service.
The log files will now be created and stored in this new subfolder location.

This article describes how to set up read-only access to the hanging protocol database. This is done by creating different sets of user permissions for the hanging protocol database. Essentially, the process works by creating a second database user with read-only privileges for the database, then creating a second instance of Visualization Service that accesses the database via the read-only user. The diagram below illustrates the resulting configuration:
If you are using eFilm 2.1.0, you will have to set up the read-only visualization service on a second web server. eFilm 2.1.2 adds the ability to run two visualization services on the same web server.

To set up a read-only visualization service on a second web server (high-level procedure):
Install Visualization Services normally. (You can skip this step if you have already installed Visualization Services.)

This article describes how to analyze efSvChld.exe log files. A user may send you such a file in the course of troubleshooting a problem with efSvChld.exe resource consumption, or you may request such a file for the same reason.
Note: Before reading this article, you should read this article on troubleshooting efSvChld.exe load issues, and this article on activating efSvChld.exe logging.
So somebody has sent you a log file: what are you looking for? There are two basic scenarios under which a single instance of efSvChld.exe might be consuming excessive amounts of CPU time; your goal is to identify which situation the user is experiencing and suggest a remedy.
Scenario 1: efSvChld.exe is downloading a large DICOM file

System requirements
In a large hospital environment, there are often many workstations that connect to a few image servers. Whenever a new server goes live, it is impractical to manually update the remote device list on every eFilm workstation. To simplify this task, eFilm’s Enterprise Management feature can retrieve a list of servers from a central SQL database to update the local list.
This document describes how to configure the eFilm Enterprise Management (efEM) feature, which applies to eFilm 1.8.0 build 14 and later. It includes the following sections:

Abstract:
This document describes how to set up an eFilm Site License. The following points should be kept in mind when setting up a site license:
Server licenses have a Concurrent User Limit — only “x” number of clients can use a server license at one time. This value is set when the license is purchased.
When you purchase a site license, you will be asked to provide two reference codes — one from your primary license server, and another from your optional secondary server. You will then be issued one or two license keys (depending on whether or not you provided a secondary reference code), one for each server.
There are three steps to setting up an eFilm Site License:
Set up a primary license server.
Set up an optional secondary license server to be used as a backup in case the primary server is down.
Set up the client workstations.
Setting up a Primary License Server
The primary license server hosts the license for the site.
To set up a primary license server (high-level procedure):
Designate one machine on the site's network to act as the primary license server. This is where the primary license will reside.
Install eFilm on the primary license server.
Obtain a server reference code from eFilm.
Enter the license key in eFilm.
To obtain a server reference code:
Launch eFilm and open the License Summary dialog (available from the registration dialog when eFilm starts up for the first time, or by selecting Help > Licensing... within the application).
Select the products you want to license (hold Ctrl to select multiple products).
Click Server. A dialog box appears with one or more reference codes.

WARNING! The Windows Registry is a critical component of the operating system. If you make an error modifying the Registry you could seriously impair your system’s ability to function correctly or even boot. If you are not familiar with modifying the system Registry, you should find someone who is familiar with it to perform these steps.
To enable efSvChld.exe logging:
In the Windows Registry Editor, create a DWORD ServerChildLog key in:

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOTWARE\eFilm Medical\eFilm\Settings
A value of 1 enables logging and 0 disables it. Each efSvChld.exe that is spawned has its own log file created in the eFilm LOG folder (default C:\Program Files\Merge eFilm\eFilm\LOG). The log file is named as follows:

SERVERCHILD_ProcessID_HHMMSS.LOG

...where ProcessID corresponds to the process ID of the efSvChld.exe process (as in the Windows Task Manager) and HHMMSS is the creation time of the log file (i.e. when the efSvChld.exe process was spawned). For example, an efSvChld.exe process with process ID 3932 spawned at 16:20:07 will create a log file that is named SERVERCHILD_3932_162007.LOG.

Important: Because each log file is automatically deleted when the association has ended, you must view or copy the file during an association that has encountered performance issues.

Migrating eFilm site licenses from eFilm 2.1.0 to eFilm 2.1.2

Abstract:
In eFilm 2.1.2 we made changes to the site license server for eFilm that we believe will improve reliability and be more secure. The new mechanism is based on a true client-server implementation and no longer requires that you have a shared folder available on the server. The new version is not backward compatible with the old version. Specifically:
a new eFilm 2.1.2 client cannot use the 2.1.0 site licensing mechanism
an existing 2.1.0 client cannot use the new 2.1.2 site licensing mechanism
The licenses themselves ARE backward compatible; in other words, your 2.1.0 license should continue to work for 2.1.2.
Because of the two license versions are incompatible, it can be awkward migrating a site from one version to the next. This document describes how to migrate a site license from eFilm 2.1.0 to eFilm 2.1.2. We present two approaches for performing the migration: the easiest approach can be used at sites running a secondary license server; the other approach must be used if the site is using only one license server.
Migrating from eFilm 2.1.0 to eFilm 2.1.2 using a secondary server
If your 2.1.0 site is running a primary license server on A and secondary on B:
Keep the 2.1.0 license server running on Server B.
Upgrade Server A to 2.1.2 and configure it with a new license server license. Now the 2.1.0 clients will not find the primary license on A, so they will fallback to the secondary on B.
As you install 2.1.2 clients, configure them to use Server A as the primary server, and Server B as the secondary server.

eFilm Client Licensing does not work in Register dialog

This document describes a workaround for Siebel Defect 1-3SH71 - eFilm Client Licensing does not work in Register dialog.
Problem
After upgrading a client machine to 2.1.2, eFilm first looks for an existing local license. If there is no local license, the Register dialog will be displayed. Clicking Register displays the License Type dialog. Clicking Client displays the Client License dialog. If you try to configure the licensing server, the verification will always fail.
Solution
The workaround is to click Evaluate in the Register dialog first and start eFilm in evaluation mode, then configure site licensing from the eFilm "Help > Licensing" dropdown menu. However, this workaround will not work if eFilm has been previously evaluated on that machine. In that case, it is necessary to modify the registry.
Select Start > Run.

Type regedit and press Enter to start the Registry Editor.

Symptom
When trying to license eFilm Workstation 2.1.0 or later by entering a license key, the error message "No eligible license key" appears.
Cause
When entering the license information, the dashes must be present in the license key. If you omit the dashes, the license key is of the wrong length and eFilm rejects the key.
Resolution
When inputting the license key, make sure to enter the dashes in the license key. If you are reading a license key over the phone to a customer, be sure to tell them to enter the dashes in the appropriate places.

ImageChannel compatibility for eFilm Advanced Visualization plugins

This article describes the limitations of the IlumiView Advanced Visualization plugin when used with ImageChannel.
ImageChannel allows eFilm to view studies without downloading the full DICOM study locally; images are essentially streamed from the ImageChannel server to eFilm. However, some of the Advanced Visualization plugins are either unable to operate, or experience restricted functionality, without the full DICOM file available locally.

eFilm fails to start, showing only the splash screen

Abstract:
This article describes how to manually register the XML 4.0 parser in order to make eFilm start.
Symptoms
When trying to launch eFilm Workstation, it fails to start - only the splash screen appears. The user just sees the desktop afterwards and nothing else occurs.
Cause
On certain Windows XP machines, the XML 4.0 parser has been unregistered – even though it has already been installed.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, you must manually register the XML parser (msxml4r.dll).

eFilm feature restrictions based on Windows logon privileges

Abstract:
This document describes how to solve the following problem with eFilm Workstation and Windows XP or 2000: after installing eFilm Workstation, two error popup windows appear. They also appear when eFilm Workstation is closed. Once these popup windows are closed, they continue to appear repeatedly.
One popup window is an “efServer” popup that describes how to use “efServer.exe” with appropriate parameters. The other states that the path “C:\Program Files\Merge” is invalid and does not exist.
Cause
The workstation’s installation of Windows has been configured not to truncate filenames that are longer than 8 characters, and eFilm Workstation has been installed in a folder whose name has not been assigned a short filename.
Resolution
To solve this problem, you should first verify that short filenames have been disabled, then re-enable short filenames. There are separate procedures for correcting this problem in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Configure Port Forwarding on the Firewall device. Enter the local eFilm Workstations IP address and Listening Port (default is 4006). All requests made to the Firewall device for the configured port will then forward this connection to the IP address of the local eFilm Workstation.
Workaround
Configure the local eFilm Workstation to be the DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) on the Firewall Device. We do not recommended this option as this feature will explicitly expose the local eFilm Workstation to the Internet.

Please consult your Firewall hardware/software vendor or the Network Administrator in charge of your Network for further details.

This article explains how you can configure eFilm to support a CD writing device that would not otherwise be supported, as long as the device is in the same family of devices that is already supported by the Goldenhawk library currently installed in eFilm. If this fails, we also explain how to attempt to have eFilm treat the device as a Generic CD burner. This applies to eFilm version 2.0.1 and later.

eFilm Lite requires the installation of the Microsoft XML Parser. When the eFilm Lite application is opened, this installation starts automatically and the user is prompted to install the Microsoft XML Parser. If the user currently logged onto the workstation does not have installation privileges/permissions associated with their account, this installation will fail and eFilm Lite will close.
Resolution
Login as an Administrator or a user with installation privileges/permissions. This may require the user to contact the Network or Systems Administrator in their organization to have them install the Microsoft XML Parser. This installation is only required when using eFilm Lite for the first time.

Solution
This is a known issue with eFilm Workstation 1.9.3.
By manually adjusting the window and level values within eFilm Lite you can manipulate the image to the desired quality.
This issue was fixed in version 1.9.4.
